A team of 10 delegates led by Dr. Marlowe Aquino, Project Manager, FinServAccess, APRACA visited BIRD, Lucknow from 14 to 18 October 2013, for an Exposure Study on Micro Finance for Agriculture. The delegates representing MFIs, banks and regulatory authorities were from the counties of Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand. The delegates visited branches of Gramin Bank of Aryavart in Barbanki district, Uttar Pradesh and interacted with beneficiaries of JLGs, Kisan credit cards and Farmers Clubs to understand and appreciate initiatives and innovations in financing for agriculture in India and its impact on the lives of rural people. The delegates witnessed ICT based Financial Inclusion efforts in rural areas by the Gramin Bank of Aryavart under the BC model with a POS machine facility. They also visited SHGs and Federations of SHGs promoted under the Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojana in Rae Bareli district and had extensive discussions with SHG women on social empowerment and livelihood opportunities under the project.   The team visited NABARD, Uttar Pradesh Regional Office and had discussions with senior officials of NABARD on various programmes and projects of NABARD for micro finance and agriculture development in the State
